“One of the great songwriters to emerge in the last 10 years is John Spillane”
Christy Moore “Other Voices” Feb ‘09
Mar bhuaiteoir faoi dhó de ghradam “Meteor” sa chatagóir ceol na ndaoine/traidisiúnta is fearr, rinne John Spillane camchuairt ar fud na tíre agus an domhain ag spreagadh áthais le meascán d’amhráin shéiseacha, scéalta siamsúla agus liricí fileata.
Rinne Irish Music Magazine cur síos air mar ‘one of the truest Irish voices of his generation’ ‘ agus cuireann Spillane an spiorad Ceilteach i bhfriotal.
Níl ach rud amháin atá cinnte, ag deireadh seó john Spillane ní bheidh súil thirim ar bith sa teach agus tabharfaidh sé ar thuras thú bíodh sin lena amhráin mhothúchánacha nó lena acmhainn grinn Chorcaíoch nó nach mbíodh.
I Lumiere tá Éilís Kennedy agus Pauline Scanlon; beirt amhránaithe eisceachtúla ón Daingean, Chontae Chiarraí, a bhfuil dhá ghuth soiléire ar leith agus fuaim uathúil amháin acu, Éire is ea í. Le chéile mar Lumiere, tá fuaim agus mothúchán baineann ina gcuid ceoil, arb é an guth an phríomhuirlis cheoil é agus arb í Éire an mháthairthír athshamhalta í. Le Lumiere, is é an t-amhrán agus a chanadh an príomhfhócas é, geilleann na buarthaí teicniúla do mhothúcháin agus an t-amhrán agus an t-amhránaí ag teacht le chéile gan stró.
Sa gheilleagar domhanda reatha, is bréagamhráin iad amhráin ainmheasarthachta agus ábharaíocha. Ceolann Lumiere rud éigin níos iomláine agus níos fire. Seo fíoramhránaíocht canta ag fíoramhránaithe ag cur fíormothúchán in iúl. Glacann Lumiere amhráin atá naofa agus sean agus déanann siad athshamhlú simplí agus álainn orthu, ag athéileamh na fírinne agus na muiníne don aois nua-aimseartha.

“One of the great songwriters to emerge in the last 10 years is John Spillane”
Christy Moore “Other Voices” Feb ‘09
Twice winner of the meteor award in the best folk/trad category, John Spillane has toured the country and the world spreading joy with a mix of melodic tunes, entertaining stories and poetic lyrics.
Described as ‘one of the truest Irish voices of his generation’ by Irish music magazine, Spillane truly embodies the Celtic spirit.
The only thing that’s for sure is that whether from the emotive tunes he whisks you on a journey with or his dynamic playful Cork wit, at the end of a John Spillane show there won’t be a dry eye in the house.
In the current global economy, songs of excess and materialism ring hollow. Lumiere offers something more holistic and true. This is real music by real singers communicating real emotions. Lumiere takes something that is sacred and age old and re-imagines it simply and beautifully, reclaiming truth and trust for the modern age.
Two distinct voices one unique sound. Lumiere is Éilís Kennedy and Pauline Scanlon; two exceptional vocalists from Dingle, County Kerry, Ireland. Together as Lumiere, they offer a distinctly feminine sound and feel, where voice is the primary instrument and Ireland as motherland is re-imagined. With Lumiere, the song and its delivery are the primary focus, technical concerns give way to feeling as song and singer effortlessly merge.

Hi
This is just to say thanks for a great concert on Saturday night. I was late booking tickets (my fault) but was shown given great courtesy by An Droichead staff who found tickets for me. The friendliness of the place (even a free cup of tea) helped make the evening. I can see why you win these awards.
Best wishes,
Paul
