Tá an fidlíer óg Nia Byrne ag teacht le chéile le beirt maistrí den tradisiún Dermot Byrne agus Steve Cooney le ceol spleodrach a thabairt go Béal Feirste.

Nia Byrne is a young fiddler and singer from the North-West Donegal Gaeltacht. She has learned her fiddling from her mother Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh, her cousin Ciarán Ó Maonaigh and her father Dermot Byrne. She is steeped in the Donegal fiddling tradition and now teaches it to younger musicians at traditional music school, An Chrannóg , where music and song are taught through the Irish.

She is a regular attendee at the Fiddle Week in Glencolmcille, County Donegal, every August and The Willie Clancy Summer School in Milltown Malbay, Co Clare every July. Nia’s influences include Campbells of Glenties, Dermot McLaughlin, Liam O’Connor, Clare Friel to.

She has toured with Altan in the USA and Australia and has recently been a part of 2024’s Lorient Interceltic Festival music camp.

Dermot Byrne is one of Ireland’s most outstanding traditional accordion players.  For many years a member of Altan, Dermot performed, recorded and toured extensively with the group along with artists like Donal Lunny, Steve Cooney and Stephane Grapelli, bringing the beauty and joy of traditional Irish music to audiences all over the world.  In other collaborations he has performed previously with Frankie Gavin, Paddy Keenan ,Sharon Shannon, and The Stunning along with many other outstanding Irish and international musicians.  For his contribution to Irish music Dermot was chosen as TG4's Traditional Musician of the Year 2013.   In 2022 he has released 2 albums one with Yvonne Casey and the other a collaboration with Steve Cooney.

Steve Cooney is best known for his development of an influential style of guitar accompaniment to the traditional dance music of West Kerry, for which he won the National Entertainment Award in 1997. Born in Australia in 1953, he came to Ireland in 1980. Also a poet and songwriter, he has worked with many iconic international artists in rock and country music but his primarily focus is Irish traditional music,
