For the first time ever, and in the organisation’s 30th year, there are now over 300 people attending weekly Irish classes in An Droichead. A new term of classes began this week and within days surpassed the highest attendee figures the centre has seen yet.

There is a wide range of classes available, catering for new learners and those more experienced, and with a different course for each level of ability.

An Droichead’s Irish language Development Officer, Fionnuala Nic Thom, said:

“These are the highest numbers we’ve ever had for classes, and that shows the interest there is in learning Irish at the moment, but also the high standard of our teaching, which draws people back, term after term”

It is now possible to attend classes online, as well as in the Lárionad on Cooke St., and people now attend the classes remotely from all corners of the world. Although online learners can avail of the best interactive learning technology available, most still prefer to attend classes in person.

Each term lasts for 10 weeks, and there are still places in some classes for those who are looking to book. Bookings can be made via our website’s courses page, or by contacting fionnuala@androichead.com.
